Kapseret Constituency has taken a significant step toward strengthening education and social welfare after disbursing Ksh 76,669,384 in education bursaries and social security funds for the Financial Year 2025/2026.
The funds were officially launched during a ceremony attended by Jonathan Chelilim Bii, the Governor of Uasin Gishu County, alongside Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi, Ward Representatives, education stakeholders, community leaders, and residents.
The initiative is aimed at supporting needy students across the constituency while also assisting vulnerable members of the community through targeted social support programs.
Speaking during the event, MP Sudi said the bursary program reflects his commitment to ensuring that every child in the constituency has access to education regardless of their financial background.
“Education is the foundation of a prosperous society. As leaders, it is our responsibility to ensure that children from disadvantaged families are not denied the opportunity to pursue their dreams because of lack of school fees,” said Sudi.
He noted that the Ksh 76.6 million allocation will benefit hundreds of students in secondary schools, colleges, and universities across the constituency. According to the MP, the funds will help ease the financial burden faced by many families, particularly in rural and low-income areas.
Sudi added that the bursary program forms part of broader efforts to invest in human capital development and ensure that young people in Kapseret are empowered through education.
“We want to build a generation that is educated, skilled, and capable of contributing positively to society. By supporting our students today, we are laying a strong foundation for the future of Kapseret,” he said.
Governor Bii praised the initiative and emphasized the importance of collaboration between national and county leadership in addressing education challenges and improving the welfare of residents.
He said investing in education remains one of the most effective ways to transform communities and create long-term economic opportunities for young people.
“The future of our county lies in the education of our children. Initiatives like these ensure that learners remain in school and are able to complete their studies without unnecessary interruptions,” said the governor.
The event also brought together Ward Representatives and education stakeholders who reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that the funds reach the intended beneficiaries in a transparent and accountable manner.
Community leaders expressed appreciation for the bursary program, noting that many families struggle to meet the rising cost of education. They said the financial support will help reduce school dropouts and ensure that students remain focused on their studies.
Education stakeholders also emphasized that the program will play a key role in improving academic outcomes and increasing transition rates to higher levels of education.
Apart from supporting students, part of the funds will also go toward social security initiatives targeting vulnerable members of the community, including families facing economic hardships.
According to leaders present at the event, the support will help beneficiaries access essential services and opportunities that can improve their livelihoods.
Residents who attended the ceremony welcomed the initiative and praised the constituency leadership for prioritizing education and social welfare.
Kapseret leaders reiterated their commitment to expanding bursary programs and strengthening partnerships with stakeholders to ensure that more students benefit from similar initiatives in the future.
The disbursement marks one of the largest investments in education and social welfare within the constituency and underscores the leadership’s determination to promote inclusive development in Kapseret Constituency.
